If you love the outdoors, plan a visit to stay in Hart’s Location anytime of the year. Hiking, biking, golf, fly fishing, canopy tours are all popular in summer months. In winter, there are over 300 trails and glades to ski and ride in the area or more than 400 km of trails to cross country ski or snowshoe. Trailer your own or rent a snow machine to ride one of New England’s most extensive network of trails connecting to surrounding states and Canada.
Brake for Moose
New Hampshire is famous for its moose which can be seen at many locations along the road through Hart’s Location. Drivers are urged to use caution when on the roads, especially at dusk and dawn, for your safety and that of the moose. They are beautiful animals with an average weight of 1000 pounds. They are particularly active from April to November and are hard to see at night. Your headlights generally hit their legs, not their eyes, so you won’t see a reflection. In spring, yearlings have just been separated from their mothers and are apt to show up anywhere at anytime. Wear your seatbelt, use high beams when possible, scan the sides of the road, and observe the speed limit.
